Dropped 150 g of rat. Checked L wing- feels stable at both fracture sites. Extension needs work Gave meds PO- Terbinafine: 0.83 cc (50mg/ml compounded) PO Meloxicam: 1.85 cc (1.5 mg/ml compounded) PO A: BAR. Pt's wing feels stable, but he will need PT to improve the extension eventually. P: CCP

| Weight: 2756.0 grams, BCS: 2.0 S: Hock sitting in transport box. Wiggly for exam. O: Intake exam and radiographs. Breathing heavily on back for radiographs so did not try to get ones of rest of legs. ------------- PHYSICAL EXAM FINDINGS ---------------- Mentation: BAR Temp (F): 105.5 Dehydration (%): 5 Neurologic: NSF Head/mouth/beak: NSF Ears: NSF Eyes: NSF Wings: Fxs to proximal L humerus and distal L ulna. Bruising to ventral side of ulna fx. Enough callous formation already that did not feel like fxs were shifting by are very flexible. Carpus feels slightly rotated ventrally. Legs: NSF Feet: NSF. Toes still a bit floppy, just starting to develop grip strength Body: NSF Feather condition: In blood. Primaries ~40% in. Body feathers sprouting but still has thick layer of down visible between them and covering legs Ectoparasites: None seen Radiographic findings: Confirmed fx to L proximal humerus/distal ulna. Fx to humerus appears abnormally angled Initial treatment: Gave 1.84cc meloxicam PO + 60cc LRS SQ in R inguinal A: Fxs to L humerus and ulna are both fairly close to joints. Feel like there is already callous stabilizing them enough to not require a wrap, especially since a wrap would inhibit normal development of feathers. Callous formation very quick at theis age due to rate of calcium being laid down for growth. Concerned for apparent roation of carpus and humoral head but may remodel to a lesser angle since patient is still growing. Wing being held normally when hock sitting. P: Rx meloxicam. Rx terbinafine. Check blood, including lead, and fecal on 4/14. Vet check 4/15. Monitor fxs out of wrap and place wrap PRN. Follow up rads in 1 week. Weigh SID. SF in AM, HF in PM if DNE, wear camo.
